Attorney Recruitment:

  • Summer Program:  Manage the effective implementation of the Summer Program (plan and coordinate events; lead orientation program; manage work assignment process; handle new hire orientation process and exit process; coordinate offer decision)
  • Student and Post Clerk Recruitment: Manage the on-campus and post clerk recruiting processes (set up interview schedules; prepare information packets; host hospitality suites at onsite and offsite events; maintain relationship with Career Services Officers; lead diversity student outreach initiatives)
  • Lateral Non-Partner Recruitment:  Manage the lateral attorney recruiting effort (interact with search firms to communicate hiring needs and diversity goals; work with partners to determine hiring goals; schedule candidate interviews; prepare offer letters; oversee conflicts clearance process and all procedures required before the start of a new attorney)
  • Other Recruitment: Manage the recruitment process for any other attorneys (law clerks, foreign interns, etc.)
  • Partner Recruitment:  Oversee WDC team’s work with scheduling of partner candidates at the direction of and in coordination with Director of Lateral Partner Recruitment – Americas; 
  • Manage LawCruit database procedures for applicant tracking; candidate file maintenance; recruiting budgets; hiring statistics

Attorney HR:

  • Coordinate general HR matters for attorneys with WDC HR Manager
  • Manage attorney compliance with state bar admission (including DC bar waive in procedures and compliance), CLE requirements and state bar dues payments, in coordination with Attorney Personnel and CLE Coordinator
  • Interact with U.S. offices on CLE compliance for attorneys admitted in multiple jurisdictions or for accreditation of courses for VA CLE credits
  • Participate in attorney retention initiatives for attorney integration and mentoring programs, attorney dinners/functions/panels, etc.
  • Coordinate internal and external marketing of training & development initiatives for attorneys in WDC
  • Manage new lateral lawyer orientation and highlight training & development opportunities at the firm
  • Work with DC Women’s Forum to help develop and implement women’s initiatives, coordinate events
  • Work with Practice Leaders, Hiring Partners and Office Managing Partner all attorney recruitment initiatives and on diverse law student outreach initiatives
  • Responsible for audit and monitoring of PeopleSoft data on DC attorneys and related reporting
  • Coordinate the oral review meetings for DC attorneys; assist with overall attorney evaluation process as needed
  • Coordinate exit process for DC attorneys

Attorney Development:

  • Manage arrangements for in-house training programs for rsvp process, space, a/v, catering, communications, materials, evaluations, speakers, CLE, administration for sign in, certificates, etc.
  • Manage use of attorney training related software: MB archived programs, CE Manager for CLE recordkeeping and WestLegalEd and PLI for online CLE programs
  • Provide on-the-ground support to other ADR professionals when training events hosted in WDC

Department Management:

  • Train, develop and supervise Attorney Recruitment departmental staff; manage workflow and allocation
  • Manage DC budgets for department, and recruiting initiatives
  • Active participant in Committee on Associates & Counsel and Women’s Forum
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.  An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

Professional Experience:

  • Five+ years of law firm or professional services firm recruiting, training, HR and team management experience required

Specific Technical Skills:

  • Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office products and software for applicant tracking, summer work assignments and evaluations, HRIS and CLE tracking and compliance such as PeopleSoft, LawCruit, viDesktop and CE Manager
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Management Accountabilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Manages the attorney recruiting, summer program, attorney development and ADR office budgets.
  • Manages processes on direct reports for performance appraisals, merit increases, merit bonuses, goal setting, performance counseling
  • Member of the Washington office departmental management team involved in maintaining a positive culture and morale within the Washington office
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Operational budget analysis and recommendations
  • Conducts analysis of staffing levels and participation in the recruitment process
  • Able to determine and implement change processes to improve workflow efficiencies
  • Process- and service-oriented with strong leadership and project management skills
  • Able to set priorities and delegate in an efficient manner

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to travel to other offices, events, conventions, seminars, meetings
