The Client Rates Management Analyst provides support and counsel to lawyers and other Firm personnel in pricing and managing the financial aspects of individual client engagements.

 

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Summarizes the financial impact of existing rate arrangements and develop and recommend revisions as agreements are renewed
  • Supports updates and revisions to existing rate arrangements, implement/apply finalized agreements and ensure that rates and other key matter data are properly assigned on an ongoing basis
  • Serves as the initial/primary point of contact for assigned clients on rate, pricing and reporting issues and coordinate client facing reporting
  • Reviews and summarizes client billing policies to determine the impact to ongoing matter management and the invoicing process
  • Coordinates and executes the annual bill rate setting process in the U.S.
  • Provides functional and administrative support for Firm's matter management/budgeting tool and coach partners and associates in its use and assist the same in the development of matter budgets
  • Working with matter responsible partners, assists in the monitoring of actual performance against budget for in-process matters
  • Works directly with Firm Partners to develop rate, fee estimates and pricing options in response to client RFP’s and ad-hoc requests
  • Prepares analysis to support proposed fee arrangements, including financial impact and viability of proposed pricing arrangements and facilitate approval of same
  • Posts matter financial analysis and provision of associated pricing and business insight to partners, pricing and business development teams
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of budgeting templates and other tools for use by partners and client financial management team
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives

 

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, required
  • MBA or equivalent qualification, preferred

 

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of related experience, required
  • Experience working within a partnership essential or law firm, preferred
  • Prior experience working with pricing decisions and fee negotiation, preferred

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, required
  • Prior experience with law firm technology including Aderant, matter planning software and Microsoft SQL, preferred

  • Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment

  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

 

Physical Requirements:

  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

 

The typical New York pay scale for this position is between $138,100 and $158,800, in Los Angeles $138,400 to $159,200, and in Palo Alto $153,600 to 176,600, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
