The Human Resources Compliance Specialist is a strategic leader responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive HR compliance programs.  This role ensures the Firm's adherence to state and federal labor and employment laws and fosters a culture of compliance and the promotion of risk management across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Strategic Development and Implementation

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of HR compliance programs and processes, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively identify potential compliance risks and develop strategic action plans to mitigate these risks

Policy Management and Communication

  • Ensure all U.S. HR policies are compliant with current legal and regulatory standards
  • Communicate effectively with the U.S. HR team regarding policy updates, legal requirements, and compliance programs, serving as a key resource for policy interpretation

Training and Development

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for the U.S. HR team and Risk Management, in collaboration with the Learning & Development Team, to ensure up-to-date knowledge on compliance matters

Collaboration and Support

  • Partner with the U.S. HR team, In-House Labor & Employment Counsel, Benefits Counsel, and Risk Management Counsel to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards

Data Management and Reporting

  • Oversee the maintenance and distribution of employee demographic information and monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for all U.S. office locations
  • Assist with HRIS data entry audits and run queries as needed to support compliance initiatives

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide backup support for HRIS data entry
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the Firm's goals and objectives

 

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the functions of the job
  • JD preferred or SHRM- CP, PHR/SPHR preferred

 

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant Human Resources or Labor & Employment experience
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal HR laws

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, required
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems, preferred
  • Peoplesoft prior experience, preferred

 

Performance Traits:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the Firm and external vendors.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a diverse team environment and support the demanding needs of the Firm.
  • High level of initiative, self-starter with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure while maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
  • Ability to proactively anticipate upcoming changes in the relevant laws and propose solutions
