The Client Pricing Lead Analyst is responsible for the development of creative and workable pricing solutions in response to client demands, that align fees with the value provided to and the objectives of the client, while remaining consistent with Firm’s strategy and profitability goals.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Leads the creation, evaluation, and execution of client fee arrangements with the objective of driving improvement in the Firm’s pricing outcomes and profitability
  • Undertakes detailed financial analysis in relation to and in support of the development of pricing alternatives in response to client request/RFPs
  • Assesses the profitability and market competitiveness of the various pricing options and provide related insight and recommendations to Partners & Management
  • Works directly with Firm Partners and Pricing Team members to develop rates, alternative fee arrangements, fee estimates, matter budgets and pricing options in response to client RFPs and ad-hoc requests and facilitates approval of same
  • Applies business acumen and analytical skills to develop pricing solutions that meet both client and Firm objectives
  • Utilizes technology like Clocktimizer and Harvey AI to assist in RFP proposals
  • Develops strong understanding of practice group economics
  • Works with Attorneys, Practice Groups, Business Development personnel and Pricing team to draft the financial and pricing components of client RFP submissions
  • Inputs RFP opportunities into matter planning software and follows-up on status of RFPs
  • Conducts detailed post matter financial analysis with the aim of utilizing historical matter data and related insight to assist in the pricing of future matters and improving financial performance
  • Develops and maintains budget templates and other tools for use by Partners and Pricing and Legal Project Management team
  • Supports the development of detailed competitor analysis and associated database and bring to bear in development of client fee arrangements
  • Works with Pricing Management and broader Pricing & Legal Project Management team on the enhancements of technologies, tools and processes in relation to pricing, matter estimates, matter profitability, post matter analysis and competitor intelligence
  • Collaborates and provides training in department tools and processes to the broader Pricing & Legal Project Management team, Business Development and other departments at the Firm
  • Leverages artificial intelligence tools and machine learning models to automate pricing, extract insights from large datasets, and enhance decision-making processes across key business functions
  • Builds new dashboards in Power BI, highlighting key pricing and financial metrics
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, IT or Business-related field

 

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of related experience, required
  • Prior experience in professional services pricing, negotiations and related areas, preferred
  • Prior experience of working within professional services organization or law firm, preferred

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, required
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI & Microsoft SQL is highly preferred
  • Experience with law firm technology such as Clocktimizer, Iridium, Aderant Expert, BigHand, and other matter planning software, preferred

  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects

  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical and analytical skills

 

The typical pay scale for this position in Chicago is between $127,100 and $168,100, and in New York between $138,100 and $182,600, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
