The Senior Advisor: Human Resources provides specialist-level support for attorney HR functions in the Washington, D.C. office, working closely with the Attorney HR Manager and the U.S. Student Recruitment Team. Key responsibilities include onboarding, integration, retention and diversity initiatives, coordination of the summer associate program, and general HR transactions.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Recruitment:

  • Supports the Firm’s student recruitment initiatives, including coordinating law school registration, preparing OCI materials, and managing resume collection and distribution
  • Leads planning efforts and execution of the Summer Program, including event coordination, trainings, and orientation week meetings
  • Prepares for and attends WDC summer program events
  • Monitors and maintains summer program work assignment database
  • Prepares mid-point and end-point review packets
  • Manages LCLD job postings, facilitates resume collection, conducts candidate screen interviews and coordinates candidate interviews
  • Collaborates with the U.S. Student Recruitment Team and HR Manager on law school events and outreach efforts
  • Attends WALRAA meetings and monitors recruitment trends among Washington, D.C. law firms
  • Partners with the HR Manager to support outreach for Post-Clerk events and other related recruitment functions
  • Compiles data and generates reports as requested
  • Coordinates interviewer materials and promotional collateral, including advertisements, brochures, and gifts; updates job postings as needed
  • Tracks OCI dates and registration in partnership with the U.S. Student Recruitment Team
  • Facilitate recruitment meetings when necessary
  • Assists with planning New Lawyer Orientation for first-year Associates and Post-Clerks
  • Leads the on-boarding process for fall associate class including extranet site, collection and tracking of information and paperwork, reimbursement for bar exam fees and relocation expenses, facebook, fielding questions; assists with coordination of orientation materials and first year training lunches
  • Maintains applicant tracking and hiring statistics using LawCruit and FloRecruit databases, ensuring accurate candidate file management

 

Human Resources:

  • Audits and monitors PeopleSoft data for Washington, DC attorneys to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Leads on-boarding process for all attorney new hires. Prepares new hire documentation, including conflicts clearance, relocation expenses, and orientation schedules; collaborates with relevant departments to complete all pre-employment tasks and oversees the pre-onboarding platform
  • Leads employment verifications and maintains personnel records for attorneys
  • Supports the HR Manager in administering short-term disability, long-term disability, and Workers’ Compensation programs for attorneys
  • Maintains office headcount reports, attorney arrival/departure charts, and related tracking documents
  • Processes HR department invoices and ensures timely submission
  • Contributes to HR projects and initiatives, offering administrative and operational support
  • Assists with arrangements for in-house training programs
  • Leads the attorney offboarding processes, ensuring proper documentation and communication
  • Partners with the lateral recruitment team to onboard contract attorneys
  • Audits attorney workflows in the HRIS system for employment transactions and administrative processes; addresses benefits and payroll inquiries and resolves paycheck discrepancies
  • Maintains the HR Coordinator and Specialist Procedures Guide to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Assists with scheduling of the performance appraisal process for lawyers
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support Firm goals and maintains confidentiality on all sensitive matters

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
  • 3 years+ of experience in the Legal Recruitment and On Campus Interviews or Development industry; at a private sector law firm preferred

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with software tools such as PeopleSoft, CE Manager, and viDesktop; experience with comparable applicant-tracking databases (e.g., FloRecruit, Symplicity, and LawCruit) preferred; continuing-education tracking
  • Proficiency in virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams and WebEx

The typical pay scale for this position is between $92,000 and $122,000, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
